Our recommendations with star reviews are as follows: 3-5 Stars -> Good - Great films; highly recommend 2.5 Stars -> Borderline film; cautiously recommend 1-2 Stars -> Not a good film; do not recommend
Ant-Man and the Wasp – 8.3/10
Exciting introduction to Ant-Man, as Paul Rudd does a fantastic job of bringing to life a less than stellar idea for a Super Hero into an exciting part of the MCU.
Skyscraper – 7.3/10
Classic Rock film. Overall okay action film and is entertaining enough, however lacks a ton of novel ideas and substance. Strong performance by Dwayne.
Equalizer 2 – 7.1/10
Cool action scenes and the plot isn’t horrible. It’s a shame because Washington does a great acting job, but the writing is rather lack luster.
First Purge – 6/10
The Purge was such an interesting idea and I loved the concept of the original purge, they just keep making too many films. Nothing novel about this purge compared to the previous iterations.
Mission Impossible: Fallout – 8.1/10
Classic Tom Cruise and mission impossible film. Cliché as hell and predictable but I keep coming back for more.
The Incredibles 2 – 7.9/10
The long awaited Incredibles 2. Well worth the, what 15 year wait? Great animation and story.
Blackkklansman – 8.3/10
Extremely strong performances by Adam Driver and John David Washington, and perhaps one of Spike Lee’s best films to date. Great film based on an interesting true story. Well worth the watch.
The Meg – 7.4/10
It’s tough to make a good shark movie, and this isn’t Jaws level good, but keeps you entertained throughout the film.
Mile 22 – 5/10
Film was all over the place. I couldn’t tell you what this movie was supposed to be about.
Searching – 8.2/10
Really interesting and novel plot, a bit slow to start but once the movie got going it was incredibly entertaining. Great thriller and suspense movie.
Operation Finale – 7.1/10
A rather interesting story, that isn’t well translated to the big screen. Entertaining enough but a lot of unnecessary details that shouldn’t have made it on screen.
The Predator – 6.3/10
Olivia Munn is the only thing worth watching in the movie. Lackluster movie with not enough action.
White Boy Rick – 6.8/10
Movie felt extremely rushed. Not a lot of background information and overall underwhelming plot.
Smallfoot – 7.2/10
Characters were funny, and there was a ton of singing which I was indifferent to. Okay animated film.
Venom – 8.0/10
Introduction a bit slow but sped up quickly, Plot was great and the action was strong. Hardy puts on a great performance.
Bad Times at the El Royale – 7/10
A whole lot going on, some of which was good, some not so good. A handful of underwhelming characters.
Halloween (2018) – 7.1/10
Certainly better than some previous iterations of Halloween films, but still very cliché. If you’re into horror you can do worse than this movie, as horror is a tough genre to pursue and create worthwhile movies.
Goosebumps 2 – 6.7/10
Essentially a slightly worse version of Goosebumps 1, which I did enjoy. You’re better off just watching the first film.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms – 6.8/10
I understand what they were going for, but it just wasn’t exciting enough throughout the movie. The animation was great, though.
Overlord – 8.8/10
Extremely exciting film, a classic combination of Nazis and War. Extremely fast paced and action packed movie.
Robin Hood – 8.4/10
Great iteration of Robin Hood with great characters and action in between. Strong performance by Taron Egerton.
Creed II – 8.3/10
Great work by Michael B Jordan and a fantastic addition to the Rocky movies. If you enjoy Rocky, you’ll enjoy Creed 2.
Widows – 5.8/10
No exciting character to be found in this movie. Plot is extremely forced and not executed well at all.
Fantastic Beasts – 7.9/10
Quality characters and great story/setting. The movies entertaining, but a bit slow paced.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse – 9.1/10
Fantastic movie, great animation and characters. A good break from live action MCU films.
Aquaman – 8.3/10
One of my favorite DC films to date, refreshing break from the somber traditional DC films. Step in the right direction for the DCEU.
