Batman 2022, was it an overhyped and over the top film? Absolutely not. This film lives up to the expectations of comic book fans and people eager to watch something that will leave them at the edge of their seats. Batman 2022 retains the dark and gritty atmosphere that we know and love. The setting sets the tone right away and we know what to expect for the next few hours.

Robert Pattinson does an amazing job portraying the dark knight. Along with his fellow supporting co-stars Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffery Wright, John Turturo, Andy Serkis, and etc. performing amazingly in their respective roles. The personality of each character shine throughout the story without overshadowing the others.
The film skips the origin story that we’ve seen many times and jumps right into the story. The theme throughout the movie questions the symbolism Batman is to Gotham. Does he represent the vengeful anger, fear and despair he claims to be? Or is he the manifestation of the small hope that shines within the shadows of this corruption torn city? The identity of Batman evolves throughout the film as he encounters new problems and events. At beginning of the movie, Batman is the embodiment of fear that strikes into the hearts of criminals; however, innocent civilians and men in blue share this fear and thus, mistrust the dark knight. Batman had been driven by his desire of vengeance. This path of vengeance has blinded him from seeing the true corruption within the city. He ask himself whether or not he’s making real changes to Gotham. Batman realizes that the city didn’t need any more fear, they needed hope. In order to become the hope that Gotham needed, he needed to show people that they did not need to be scared anymore and that he would guide them. It beautifully ends with him leading the scared civilians into the daylight.
Riddler, played by Paul Dano, has does an outstanding performance. His character parallels with Batman’s symbolism but with a twisted side to it. Riddler, similar to Batman, is tired of the corruption and lies within Gotham. He takes matters into his own hands and tries to purge the city of the problem. However, the consequences required a line Batman would not dare cross. Two sides of the same coin, fighting against the criminal organizations. Zoë Kravitz, portraying the sly and mischievous yet caring and compassionate Catwoman, was an amazing addition to the cast as her backstory intertwines with Batman’s investigation at hand. Jim Gordan, played by Jeffery Wright, keep his rugged and hard-boiled character in order to help Batman solve the mystery of the murders and events. Phenomenal performance from the actors and actresses.
Recommendation and Final Rating – 9.2/10
For those Batman fans, comic book fans, or anyone eager to sit down to watch a great story unfold; I cannot recommend this film enough. Even if you are unfamiliar with the Batman’s stories, you will enjoy seeing the amazing performance from each of the actors and actresses. Although it may seem like a long and slow-paced movie, the film gets right back into the story. I promise you will not regret seeing this amazing film.
